Welcome to Laurel Elementary School which is nestled in the beautiful community of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. We are proud that Laurel Elementary School has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, and our school system now has AdvancEd District Accreditation. Our school serves students in Pre Kindergarten through sixth grade. Our faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members have developed a strong partnership through the years to provide our students with a well-rounded and quality education.
Heritage and tradition are held in high esteem at Laurel Elementary School. We are what we are today due to the efforts of those who came before us. The school started in the 1900s in a small, one-room building and housed all grades through twelfth grade. Laurel School continued to house grades K-8 until the 1970s when Johnson County Middle School opened to serve our county’s seventh and eighth graders.
Our current faculty includes five full-time classroom teachers and itinerant teachers in the following areas: special education, reading, library, music, physical education, speech and counseling. We also have a master’s-level reading tutor who serves our school three days a week. We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable, dedicated and enthusiastic faculty. We also have a wonderful support staff at Laurel School who work with our teachers to provide an exceptional instructional program for our students.
Laurel Elementary School would like to extend an open invitation to all community members to share with us any stories, information, or artifacts that would help us develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of our history and heritage.
