Principal's Message

Dear Laurel Family,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  I am so excited and feel blessed to continue to work with my Laurel Elementary School family.  We are a close-knit school community with genuine care and respect for the members of our community.  This, along with lots of hard work and dedication from our students, staff, teachers, and parents makes a difference for our school.

Our teachers and staff are preparing for another great school year with an emphasis on student success.  As we work to maintain the growth we have obtained and attempt to close remaining gaps, we will have our homework help area from 7:30 - 8:00 am available each morning where students can work with an adult to receive help on activities or concepts that are challenging for them.  We will also continue to have after-school tutoring on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week.  Please encourage your student(s) to take advantage of these opportunities.  If they are struggling to get their homework done, are missing assignments, or need help understanding a challenging concept, both homework help and after-school tutoring are excellent opportunities for them to get help.

At LES, we value a safe learning environment for all students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders where students can have both academic and personal success. Therefore, courtesy and kindness will be prevalent at Laurel Elementary School, along with a respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.  Every individual is a valued part of our Laurel Elementary family and we will all work together for the success of each member of our school.

Communication between a parent, a student, and the school is one of the most important factors in student success.  We encourage you to call, email, or message us if you have questions or concerns.  As well as contacting your child’s teacher, you may contact me by phone (727-2685) or by email (beggers@jocoed.net)  at any time. We have several different communication tools that we use, so please sign up for at least one of the communication tools that we offer.  Information is available by phone, email, text, Class Dojo, the JoCo app, the websites (jocoed.net and laurel.jocoed.net), and the Facebook page “LES Panther Pride”.  Together, we can set a firm academic foundation for our students that will benefit them for the remainder of their lives.

I look forward to seeing and working with each member of our LES family as we start this new school year.  I am very excited about the upcoming school year, and I look forward to working with each student and their family.  Laurel Elementary School is a special place with wonderful and friendly students, parents, staff, and teachers. I feel honored to be working with each of you!

Here’s to a great 2023-24 school year!

Sincerely,

Brenda Dishman Eggers, Ed.D
