Principal's Message

Principals Welcome

Dear Laurel Family,

Welcome to this new school year for 2022-2023!  I feel especially blessed to continue as principal here. As I reflect on my time at LES, the one thing that continues to stand out to me is how the collective community, staff, parents and students, genuinely respect and care for each other. I believe that this mutual respect and caring makes Laurel such a wonderful community.

We have worked diligently for the past two years to overcome a multitude of issues caused by or interrupted by challenges outside of our control.  I am happy to say that this work ethic is paying off for our students.  We continue to see academic growth as they work attentively and strive to make gains.  To help with that effort this year, we will be implementing new strategies for maintaining the growth we have obtained and work to close the remaining gaps.  One of our new strategies will be that we will have a homework help room from 7:30 – 8:00 am each morning where students can go to work with an adult to receive help on activities or concepts that are challenging them.  We will also continue to have afterschool tutoring three afternoons each week.

A safe learning environment for all students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders where students can have both academic and personal success continues to be a priority.  Therefore, courtesy and kindness will be prevalent at Laurel Elementary School, along with a respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.  Every individual is a valued part of our Laurel Elementary family and we will all work together for the success of each member of our school.

Please be sure that you have signed up for at least one of the communication tools that we offer. Information is available by phone, email, text, app, website and the Facebook page “LES Panther Pride”.  Together, we can set a firm academic foundation for our students that will benefit them for the remainder of their lives.

Any time that you have questions, suggestions, or concerns related to your student, please contact either your child’s teacher or myself.  You may contact me by phone (727-2685) or by email (beggers@jocoed.net) at any time.

I look forward to seeing and working with each member of our LES family as we start this new school year.  There is no doubt that Laurel Elementary School is a special place with wonderful and friendly students, parents, staff and teachers and I feel so honored to be a Panther! Here’s to a great 2022-23 school year!

 Sincerely,

Brenda Dishman Eggers, Ed.D
